Sensenbrenner Hospital, Kapuskasing, Ontario is seeking an Emergency Department Locum for a 24-hour shift on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Saturday, June 21, 2025 24-hour shift = $ 3,540

We are also looking for coverage for the following in June:

Friday, June 27, 2025 = $ 3,360 (24-hour shift)
Sunday, June 29, 2025 = $ 3,540(24-hour shift)


Why Work With Us?
  • Locum Support: Accommodations and travel expenses are reimbursed through the Northern Specialist Locum Program (NSLP), in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Travel Time is also reimbursed as per the NSLP Guidelines.
  • 1 sessional (3-5 hours = $ 507.61
  • 2 sessionals (6-8 hours) = $ 1,015.22,
  • 3 sessionals (9-12 hours) = $ 1,522.83
  • Convenient Housing: Locums have access to fully furnished apartments when they are available in a newly constructed building directly across from the hospital. We charge the locum and they are then reimbursed by NSLP. 
  • Comfort On-Call: ED physicians have access to dedicated on-call rooms.
Shadow billing is 10% during the week and 25% weekends and holidays.

ED volume is approximately 30 patients per 24-hour shift, occasionally reaching higher on busier days.
In-Hospital Support:
  • A Hospitalist is available daily from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM for admissions.
  • After-hours admissions are managed by Emergency physicians until the Hospitalist resumes care in the morning.
  • Our medical staff includes:
     
    • 3 General Surgeons
  •  
    • 2 GP Anesthetist
  •  
    • 1 General Internist
  •  
    • 8 Family Physicians (2 with OB coverage)
  •  
You’ll work in a collaborative, team-based environment where experienced colleagues are always available for support.

There is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department Monday to Friday.

Sensenbrenner Hospital is registered as part of the peer to peer program for the Emergency Department.

  • Diagnostic Imaging (including CT)
  • Lab Services
  • ECG
  • Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy & Respiratory Therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Virtual Critical Care for critically ill patients
For advanced specialty care, we maintain strong partnerships with:

  • Timmins and District Hospital (Ortho, ENT, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry)
  • Health Sciences North and CritiCall Ontario
Travel:

Locums typically fly into Timmins Airport, followed by a scenic 2-hour drive northwest to Kapuskasing.
