There are various reasons to visit the town of Kenora, it offers tourists with services and attractions; along with picturesque landscapes. We are a town on the beautiful Lake of the Woods, surrounded by woodlands and carved out of the Canadian Shield.
We pack our summers with annual events that that are unique to our town! Under the Whitecap Pavilion, you can grab local food and goods every Wednesday at the Matiowski Farmer’s Market. On the August Long Weekend, the past 26 years, we offer Harbourfest. Three long summer evenings filled with music of various genres, which resonate across the lake. As ‘North America’s Premier Boating Destination’, some of our events must involve the lake. In June, Dingwall Ford offers Water and Wheels. In August, be under the Whitecap when the Kenora Bass International teams do their end of day weigh ins. You will see prize winning fish and most likely walk away with some tackle or treats from the top ten fishermen as they parade through. Not all events go on under the Whitecap, Second Street is shut down for ArtsFest in July for three days or when local radio station Q104 hosts a street party on Labour Day weekend.
Kenora has five Urban Recreational Trails and four Regional Trails which offer different hiking experiences in all four seasons. These trails differ in heritage, scenery and length to experience the Kenora area.
According to BOATsmart! Lake of the Woods offers boaters and paddlers authentically rugged landscapes and a truly pristine boating experience. Not a boater? No problem, sit back and relax or stand along the railing of the MS Kenora for a two to two and a half hour tour of the lake. Additionally for some family fun, we have many public beaches in the area that can be accessed by land or water. Keewatin and Norman Beach are perfect for daily family fun.
