The Kenora Opportunity:
Family Physicians work in one of our three clinic organizations;

Kenora Medical Associate is comprised of nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, a pharmacist and chiropodist and other specialties. 

Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig (WNHAC)is an Aboriginal Health Access Centre provides primary health care with an inter-professional, team-based model of care at a clinic in downtown Kenora, and on an outreach basis to First Nation communities throughout the Kenora area. WNHAC serves the Anishinaabeg of Kenora and area through traditional and contemporary health care encompassing mind, body and spirit. Physicians work closely with nurse practitioners and other members of the interprofessional team including cultural coordinators. AHACs are a salaried payment model.

Kenora Chiefs Advisory (KCA)
Wholistic and interdisciplinary support is provided within a team approach including nursing staff, community members, and nurse practitioners. Physicians must have cultural sensitivity to the issues unique to First Nation's populations, as well as a commitment to wholistic, person-centered, and culturally-safe care including an openness to traditional and western medicine practices. 

This includes expanding physician and other interdisciplinary primary care services to:
  • Increase equitable access to primary care providers in First Nations Communities
  • Promote overall wellbeing and improved health outcomes
  • Create a more robust primary care system within communities

The Lake of Woods District Hospital is a 66 bed fully accredited and teaching hospital that offers a full range of emergency and ambulatory care, mental health, maternal and child health, and acute care services which include general medicine, intensive care, surgical services, and palliative care. It also manages a broad range of outpatient services including dialysis, chemotherapy, diagnostic imaging, mammography, ultrasound, CT, visiting specialist clinics, addiction counseling and detoxification, a sexual assault program, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, and various education programs.
Emergency Department:
· 12-bed ED with  standard equipment including slit lamp & casting room, two fully equipped resuscitation rooms with ED ultrasound and difficult airway equipment,.
· Single physician shift coverage (0800-1600, 1600-2300, 2300-0800) and 24hr ER backup 
· On-call support 24/7: Gen Surg, FPA, Internist, Radiologist,/DI/Ultrasound/Xray, Lab, Pathologist, Respiratory, Psychiatry, Social workers, Obstetrics, hospitalist
· Average 20-30,000 annual visits, high acuity and interesting pathology!

Required Qualifications:
Current (or eligible to apply for) valid independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
Emergency Department work requires previous ED experience, and current ATLS, ACLS, and PALS  OR CCFP or CCFP (EM), or FRCP (EM)
